Hi Guest,

In this edition of the BIMcollab Tech Tip, we'll provide tips on the new version of BIMcollab Cloud (release date May 7), such as multi-value filtering and security enhancements. We'll also provide tips on using Revit models for model coordination, and much more. Finally, there's a very exciting new update in BIMcollab ZOOM coming up that we'd like to introduce to you. Enjoy!

New: Multi-value filtering in BIMcollab Cloud

Using filters can be very helpful in dealing with large numbers of issues effectively. With the new iteration of the issue filter - being released this weekend - you can configure the list of visible issues in a more flexible way. Choose multiple values per issue property and use the status to filter the list of issues. Identify delays, follow up on the progress of various team members and create targeted reports.

Security enhancements in BIMcollab Cloud
In the May 7 release, we will raise security levels in BIMcollab Cloud. You can enable Two-factor authentication for your account or space, and administrators of an Enterprise space can configure Single sign-on. The new versions of BIMcollab ZOOM and the BCF Managers support these improvements as well. Additionally, all users of private spaces will be asked to choose a new, more secure password if their existing one does not meet our new security requirements yet.

COMING SOON: Smart Properties
Exiting things are coming up for BIMcollab ZOOM! June 9th a new version of BIMcollab ZOOM will be released including Smart Properties. With this new feature you can re-organize and structure BIM data, by creating your own properties and classifications based on existing object attributes. You can also map values from different properties to a single new, user-defined property, to be used generically within Smart views, Clash rules or Lists for consistent model validation and data extraction.
Tip: you can already sign up for our launch event on June 9th!

Activation of BIMcollab ZOOM and BCF Managers
In the newest versions of BIMcollab ZOOM and the BCF Managers, you no longer need an activation key to activate the application. Instead, you will be asked to enter your BIMcollab ID credentials. Your BIMcollab ID is an overarching BIMcollab account based on your email address, which is used to identify you within the entire BIMcollab ecosystem. Read more about entering your BIMcollab ID below.

Model coordination with Revit files

BIMcollab ZOOM can merge IFC files from a wide variety of applications. If you are using Revit to create the architectural models for the project, there are some things to consider to make coordination with other disciplines as smooth as possible. For example, which of Revit’s origins is used as the origin of an IFC file? Should I use Shared Coordinates? Or how is the viewpoint camera positioned when creating an issue? To get you started, we have listed some recommendations for you to consider when using Revit in a BIM project.

Did you know that ...
  • You can find recent PDF, BCF and Excel reports of a project on the ‘Reports’ page? Old reports are deleted automatically after 3 months. Make sure to download them on time.
  • You can drag select multiple elements in BIMcollab ZOOM by holding down the CTRL/CMD key?
  • You can easily combine BIMcollab ZOOM with Solibri within one project? Read the blog by one of our BIM specialists on this subject.
