Hi Guest,
Curious how to choose a different default viewpoint for an issue? How to filter only spaces in BIMcollab ZOOM? Or how to synchronize all viewpoints of an issue from Solibri to BIMcollab? These questions (and more) will be answered in this edition of the BIMcollab Tech Tip.

How to filter spaces in BIMcollab ZOOM
|
|
In BIMcollab ZOOM, you can create clear overviews of the spaces in your IFC model with the help of Smart Views or Lists. When filtering based on the Element type ‘Space’ however, all elements that are related to the space, will also be included in the filtered set of elements. To make sure only the spaces themselves are included in the 3D view or List, set the filter as shown in the image. Optionally, add another rule to autocolor the spaces based on a specific property.

New feature: choose a different default viewpoint
| |
|
|
By default, the first viewpoint added to an issue is the main image that is used to identify the issue across BIMcollab applications. Nonetheless, at some point the first viewpoint of an issue might no longer show the best depiction of its current status. To provide more flexibility in the selection of the default viewpoint, it is now possible to manually select which viewpoint will be the main one. In BIMcollab Cloud, simply choose one of the viewpoints linked to a comment by clicking on ‘Set as Default’. This viewpoint will become the main image visible in the issue thumbnail and overviews in BIMcollab Cloud, ZOOM and the BCF Managers.

Formalize your workflow by approving issues | It's possible that an issue is closed before it is really resolved. Do you want to prevent this from happening to ensure good issue management in your project? In that case the approval workflow may be a good solution for you. This method is a more formal workflow that allows for the resolution of an issue to be first checked and approved before the issue is finally marked as closed. With the assistance of an extra issue status and colors, the management of issues can be done in a more transparent way. Ensuring that no issue is ever closed without proper reviewing.
| | Add additional viewpoints to issues from Solibri | Solibri allows multiple viewpoints to be added to an issue. This can be very helpful when a single viewpoint is not sufficient to convey the information to other users. You may have experienced, that only the first viewpoint was being synchronized to BIMcollab. This happens because BIMcollab requires a comment linked to a viewpoint in order to store it. Therefore, should you wish to add multiple viewpoints to an issue created in Solibri, and also have them all visible in BIMcollab, make sure you add at least one comment for every viewpoint in Solibri.

Did you know that …
- The BIMcollab ecosystem does not make use of Apache Log4j. Our software is therefore not affected by the current vulnerability.
- You can move section planes in BIMcollab ZOOM with more precision by holding the CTRL or CMD key, and using the scroll wheel of your mouse?
- You can edit the visibility settings of multiple issues at the same time in BIMcollab Cloud?
- You can use the search bar in BIMcollab Cloud to quickly filter the issues based on words in their titles?
