How do you automate your tasks even further with ZOOM Nightshift? What to do when you find an issue, but you don't know who to assign it to yet? And how do you get started with a Power BI dashboard of your BIMcollab data? These questions (and more) will be answered in this edition of the BIMcollab Tech Tip.

Automate your tasks with ZOOM Nightshift

With ZOOM Nightshift, you can use BIMcollab ZOOM to perform scripted automated tasks. This will save you a lot of time in clash- and data management! Use Nightshift – for example during the night, before your day starts – to let ZOOM check new model versions, to automatically update Smart Issues and Lists in BIMcollab Cloud. This means that your clash overview and model data is up-to-date when you return to work in the morning. We have created an example script for you, to get started immediately with ZOOM Nightshift.

TIP: Sign up for our hands-on webinar about automating tasks with ZOOM Nightshift. It takes place on December 2nd and will be hosted in English.

A more flexible workflow with unassigned issues

You found a problem when checking models and created an issue, but you don’t know yet who is responsible to handle it? With unassigned issues, you can still create the issue, and you (or someone else) can assign a user at a later time. This allows work to keep flowing at the editor’s own pace, without the need to stop and find the correct assignee for every issue before publishing it. It saves a lot of time, and keeps the focus! In other words, the workflow becomes more flexible, since different users can take on the tasks of creating issues and finding the correct assignee(s), or team members can pick up issues themselves.

Keep track of your data with our Power BI Template

Microsoft Power BI provides a number of tools which allow BIMcollab users to create fully customizable and interactive dashboards. The integration of BIMcollab Cloud and Power BI allows project data to be shared with multiple stakeholders, not limited to the users in a BIMcollab Cloud space. In order to make this integration easier, we have developed a template and instructions that help you to visualize your data quickly and clearly. The template contains relevant graphs that will get the message across promptly, but feel free to modify it to your company’s own needs.

Stay informed about the usage of your ZOOM licenses

The latest BIMcollab Cloud update introduced the field ‘Denials’. Here you can see statistics on how often users are unable to retrieve a BIMcollab ZOOM license because it is already in use. This feature can help space administrators evaluate whether the current amount of BIMcollab ZOOM licenses corresponds to the actual needs of the space’s users. If you see too many denials, this means users are often unable to use BIMcollab ZOOM to its full potential, which can delay projects.
