Hi Guest,

In this edition of the BIMcollab Tech Tip, we'll give you some more insights on BIMcollab ZOOM's new and exciting Smart Properties. Also in this Tech Tip: tips on entering your BIMcollab ID and more information about working with the Autodesk Docs integration. Enjoy!

New: Smart Properties are here!
With BIMcollab ZOOM’s Smart Properties you can re-organize and structure BIM data by creating your own properties and classifications based on existing object attributes. You can also map values from different properties to a single new, user-defined property, to be used generically within Smart views, Clash rules or Lists for consistent model validation and data extraction. Smart Properties are available in ZOOM’s latest release. What are you waiting for?
Tip: Watch the recording of the Launch webinar to get acquainted with
Smart Properties.

Combine values from multiple properties into one
In IFC models, values might be found in different properties for different components. For example, for one element volume is defined in Base quantities and for another element, it’s located under Dimensions or another property set. Combining all of these properties into a quantity take-off is a lot of work and doesn't result in a clear overview. With the new Smart Properties in BIMcollab ZOOM, you can combine all of these values into one new property which can be used in Smart views, Clash rules and Lists.
Tip: Start a 30-day BIMcollab ZOOM trial to try the Smart Properties yourself, even if you have already done a trial in the past.

Pick the models you want to see in the Autodesk Docs integration

The BIMcollab Autodesk Docs integration allows users to view models from an Autodesk Docs folder, create new issues and evaluate existing issues directly from the BIMcollab Cloud web application. The project leader defines which folder gets linked to the project, but different users within a project might not need to view all of the models in the folder at all times. Users can therefore choose which models from the folder they want to see in BIMcollab Cloud themselves. This allows for a flexible and personalized workflow.

BIMcollab ID versus Space account

With the recent update of BIMcollab ZOOM and the BCF Managers, you might have noticed that you no longer need an activation key to activate the application. This is now done by entering the credentials of your BIMcollab IDThe BIMcollab ID is a personal account, based on your email address. It is available for every user of BIMcollab Cloud, ZOOM or the BCF Managers. You can access this account via my.bimcollab.com

On the other hand, your account in a private BIMcollab Cloud space is called a
Space account. The information in this account, as well as its password, is specific for that private BIMcollab Cloud space.
